When we started cloth diapering we almost immediately started using cloth wipes too, it just made sense not only for the cost factor but also the green factor. Using cloth diapers and disposable wipes just seemed weird to me so just like cloth diapering I dove in head first. The learning curve on cloth wipes isn’t nearly as overwhelming as cloth diapers however there is a difference in cloth wipes and luxury cloth wipes, and when Nikki from Two Sweet Potatoes offered to let me review her Organic Bamboo Velour wipes (OBV) I was so excited I could hardly wait!
Nikki sent me a set of 8 wipes in a rainbow of vibrant colors and the first thing I did was keep running them through my fingers! These are the softest wipes I have ever felt and the workmanship is simply perfect. I have used several brands of cloth wipes in my time of cloth diapering and lots have frayed and come apart around the edges, these wipes look as new as the day I received them. Nikki hand finishes (no chemical fray block is used) every wipe and you can tell her talent and care are poured into each wipe.
These double sided OBV (70% organic bamboo viscose, 28% organic cotton, 2% polyester) wipes measure 7 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ and are the perfect size to stash just about anywhere, they are just the right size for travel in the diaper bag and are actually just as claimed on Nikki’s store-perfect for wipes warmers and/or disposable containers without the need to fold. I pre-moisten our wipes with a solution and store them in a warmer ready to use on Tates and when not being used (we rotate our wipes since we don’t a complete stash of Nikki’s yet!) we store our dry wipes in a drawer next to the changing table. Every time we have to use wipes for changing we usually have to finish with a dry wipe and honestly my husband and I ALWAYS reach for these wipes, it is really a double edged sword….we want them in the warmer because they are so absorbent and thirsty they can handle the messiest of jobs (imagine blowouts you don’t even know where to begin cleaning) but at the same time we want them dry to finish off a job that leaves a toddler’s tush soaking wet from being cleaned. Plain and simple we NEED more!
