So the hustle and bustle of the holiday season is starting to settle down and the new year is approaching, are you doing resolutions? Are you going to actually try to stick to them this year? How about this idea…make an attainable resolution that is also sustainable. Now that sounds like my kind of resolution! I have a challenge for you ladies out there that is super easy no matter how busy you are and won’t cost you any more money than you are already spending. Are you on the edge of your seat yet?
Here is my resolution and an easy one for you too, Green your period. As women most of us deal with our monthly reminder that we aren’t pregnant and for what seems like forever I have used the traditional solutions (pads/tampons) to handle menstruation. Until my recent introduction to the Instead Softcup I didn’t even realize how much waste I was causing using these traditional solutions. Softcup can be worn for up to 12 hours and now with the reusable Softcup you waste even less being able to reuse the same reusable Softcup for up to one full cycle. Most women use fewer Softcups than tampons/pads due to the long wear time, you definitely can’t reuse traditional disposable solutions!

Reusable Softcup |
Whether you choose disposable or reusable Softcup you are making the best choice for the environment and your body. Both the reusable and disposable Softcup are made entirely of hypoallergenic, non-toxic, latex-free, non-irritating materials and unlike tampons, Softcup is non-absorbent, and does not change the bacteria levels naturally present in the body.
So which Softcup sounds like a great alternative for you in the new year? Not sure yet? Give them both a try and see what you are most comfortable with!

Even though we're TTC, I'd LOVE to try one of these. I've been meaning to forever… I really want to love mama cloth, but I think this seems a lot easier!
These look really neat! I wish one was up for grabs!
I have used the disposable insteads for years and love them. I hate they are hard to find, only at Walgreens now (used to have them at Target, but can't find them there now.) I have not seen the reusable ones before. I'd love to try them too.
My goal is definitely to make more green changes and this is a great way to do that! They look very interesting!
These look awesome! I need to start going green and I will look into this! Thank you!
I'm confused. At the end of the cup's use, you just throw it out? Why would you opt for Instead Softcups instead of something like the Diva Cup, which is re-usable for a year or more?
Good point Jena. The reusable cups are only supposed to be used for one menstrual cycle and the disposable cups, you use once and throw away. If I am going to deal with a cup instead of using tampons, I would rather use a reusable cup like the diva cup or moon cup. It's a lot better for the environment.
I'm sorry I just don't get how this is good for the environment? You throw it away after one use.
Jena, Kelsie and Anonymous the cups can be used for up to 12 hours at a time and are definitely more eco friendly than any tampon/disposable pad. I think the Softcup is a more affordable option than diva cup/moon cup (some ladies might not have $30 to spend at once) especially if you haven't tried reusable options before and aren't sure about them you might not want to spend $30 even if you did have the money. Softcup offers a very affordable way to try reusable options. Thanks for your input!
