SoftBums Omni ~Friday’s Fabulous Fluff Feature

As my little baby continues to grow into a BIG boy we are truly putting the ‘one sized’ diapers out there to the test.  Although he is only 29 pounds and most one sized diapers say they fit well over that he is starting to get close to the end of the closures on some so the search for larger cloth diapers continues….enter SoftBums my new found one sized cloth diaper best friend!

With a background as a mother of 4, La Leche League leader and midwife Sarah the designer and co-owner (along with her husband Brian) has come a long way since her start in 2003.  Fast forward through hundreds of prototypes and patterns to the present where now cloth diapering moms and dads are lucky enough to be able to take advantage of the two different cloth diapering systems SoftBums now offers (Echo and Omni) both with the one of a kind patent pending Slide²Size adjustable feature making this truly a one sized diaper.

You can see how tiny the shell of this diaper is when it comes in the mail, it really is small enough to fit a newborn (I imagine, I haven’t tried it.) I placed the brochure in the picture so you could gauge size and see this diaper is super tiny when adjusted to fit small babies.

How did it get that small you ask?  Remember I mentioned the Slide²Size adjustable feature?  That is exactly how you are going to be able to make this diaper fit just about any size baby, the leg elastics have 2 independent toggles so you can make the diaper as tight or loose as your baby needs it which is also fabulous if you have a baby that maybe has a larger thigh on one leg maybe? Also a great way to not have to worry about using them on more than one baby-what if one baby is chunky and one is slim, no problem!  The leg elastic is very easy to adjust even if you are doing it on a wiggly baby, yes I have tried it!

With the elastics fully undone and the insert laid flat below you can see just how large they both are.  The insert is a great length for doubling no matter if you have a little boy or girl. The unique shape allows for full coverage even in the back with a nice contoured shape.

My husband prefers to use our Omni as a pocket (no worrying about tucking in the pod I think) so I just pre-stuff our and have them ready to go so he can use them anytime.  I really like that the pocket has ample room to stuff and cover the pod and lay flat nicely.

So you love all the fabulous features as much as I do now let’s talk fit.  Being so customizable this diaper is really a favorite of mine as it fits just wonderfully!  Tates thighs are chunky and no red marks as long as I have adjusted it properly.

From these 2 shots you can really see just how trim this diaper is and I always fold the insert over so it is doubled but you can’t tell!

With crossover snaps (and tabs in the velcro version) you can fit the waist around babies of many sizes, Tates still has quite a few snaps left so this should fit him well for a long time.
