More than a million people in the United States get cancer each year and 1 out of 3 people will face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime. 6 people in my family alone have had cancer (some multiple times). The numbers are scary and a wake up call to say the least. I thought I would share some easy ideas of what we can all do to help the fight against cancer, let’s make it our goal for 2014 to make a difference and kick cancer’s butt!Volunteer your time: Some people are fighting their battle alone unfortunately or simply don’t have family close by to help them, you can volunteer your time and give a cancer patient a ride to chemotherapy, visit an inpatient in the hospital or if they are allowed you can take them out to a movie, you never know how much your time can mean to someone.
Monetary Donation: Thousands of cancer patients aren’t able to afford lodging and travel expenses when their treatment might be not so close to home, should the cost of a hotel room mean life or death? You can easily text ROOM to 41518 to donate $10.
Donate Air Miles: Make a contribution of your airline frequent flier miles from Delta Air Lines or United Airlines and help a cancer patient with air transportation.
Clean out your closets: Did you know that you can turn your eBay auctions, buying and selling, into charitable activities? That is a huge motivator for me to clean out my closets, list all my families things that we aren’t using and make them into some cancer kicking cash!
What other ideas do you have? How do you support the fight against cancer? I’d love to hear what your inspirations are and collaborate on this fight together!
