Nutrition Check~ Fruits & Veggies {Giveaway}

Most parents I know try to promote eating fruit and veggies to their little ones.  I really believe that starting your children out young eating healthy and making good food choices can form healthier habits for when parents don’t necessarily have as much control over what their children eat.   Luckily our children love to eat fruits and are open to at least trying most veggies.

Although eating fruits and vegetables regularly is a great habit, there are also many health benefits. Eating fruits and vegetables regularly can help reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure and certain cancers; it can also reduce the chance of obesity in children.

I don’t know about you but my kids tend to copy a lot of my actions so when I make healthier food choices they do too, so I am setting an example and getting plenty of fruits and veggies everyday.  Also when making my grocery list I avoid junk, if I don’t ‘stock’ the bad foods they can’t eat them!

If you’re struggling to get your children interested in wholes fruits, Earth’s Best has an Organic Apple Sauce that can be a good alternative for an actual apple or piece of fruit. Earth’s Best Organic Apple Sauce is made with 100% organic apples to keep little bodies and minds growing strong. The Organic Apple Sauce by Earth’s Best is perfectly sized in on-the-go cups so they can serve as snacks at any time of the day. With no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, Earth’s Best Organic Apple Sauce is available in original and cinnamon.

    I use dips and dressings to help entice my daughter to eat them. I also load them to into things like meatloaf and chicken pot pie.

    My kids haven’t been too picky yet! My 3 year old likes veggies dipped in ranch and my 10 month old still eats baby food!

  3. Jennifer Barata Allen says:

    I pair it with something they really like and they can eat a little of both in one bite

  4. Colleen Maurina says:

    We try to involve them in growing fresh produce in our garden so that they will be excited to eat the fruits of their labor!

  5. I mix vegetables into things, cook by themes, or serve it raw.

    It sometimes helps to involve them in the cooking process, but that’s rather hit or miss.

    I don’t do anything to get my kids eat veggies, i simply put it on their plate and tell them they have to eat it, if they can’t finish their plate i tell them they have to finish salad or veggies first. Of course their favorite dressings make it taste better =)

  7. Amy Bailey says:

    I don’t actually have to tell my daughter to eat her fruits and veggies. Its all she will eat mostly. She is 2 1/2 and will grab a banana or whole cucumber and eat them whole.

    My son LOVEs all fruit… eats it up all the time 🙂 Veggies on the other hand… It depends on his mood. Usually I can get him to eat most any veggie if I give him some kind of “dip”… he loves to dip things! We also eat a lot of veggies ourselves and when he sees us he tends to want it. To get a little extra in his i diet I add veggies to food. Load the spaghetti sauce full of veggies. Add spinach to the taco meat (you can’t even taste it) I try and add extra veggies into everything I make 🙂

  9. Jill A. Collins says:

    I don’t have to work at it. Fruits and veggies are favorites around here.

  14. I don’t have kids, so this is not an issue for me. I hope that is OK! If I did have kids, I would sneak veggies into their spaghetti sauce!
