Valentine’s Day Planning and Instead Softcup

As a blogger I *hope* what I write helps my readers in some way whether it is with information or an opinion on a product or sharing my experiences and adventures as a wife and mother.  I know that when I read other blogs and see pictures and stories about things that affect me it makes me feel connected to others knowing what happens to our family is ‘normal’ and common.

I don’t get a chance to hang out with my other mommy friends nearly as much as I would like to however recently a few of us got together for a pajama party and (girls being girls) we started gabbing about every topic under the sun.  With Valentine’s Day coming up of course we all started chatting about what we thought our husband’s had planned and what we had planned for them.  One friend in particular was hoping to have a nice evening in with her husband, she was having her kids spend the night with her parents and had an entire adult evening ready to surprise her husband with including some new lingerie.  She then told us she had gotten her monthly visit from ‘Aunt Flo’ and was canceling the whole evening so I was really excited to be able to pass along some information to her about the Instead Softcup and how it is OK to use it during intercourse.  She was skeptical at first and didn’t believe me so I grabbed the one I carry in my purse (in case I need it unexpectedly while I am out and about) and gave it to her to try.  She tossed it in her purse and we went on with the evening enjoying ourselves.

The next day I got a text from her asking where she could get more!  She told me she had talked to her mom and had the romantic evening for her and her husband scheduled again and couldn’t wait for Valentine’s Day now.  Of course I was completely ecstatic to have not only helped a friend but also helped the planet too, Softcup can be worn for up to 12 hours and typically women use fewer Softcups tampons or pads therefore less waste!

hmmm… will look into this. I have used reusable pads in the past, and tried a couple other "green" options, but often end up not liking them.

I am a huge supporter of Instead! I will try to keep it G rated, but after four kids, I do have to still use backup along with the cup on about 2 days a month, but the other 5 days the cup is my best friend. I love it being so eco friendly, it's literally wash and go, and I am never in an oopsy situation. How did we ever get on without the cup?

The Softcup sounds wonderful! I would like to be more green than tampons, but am not a fan of the momma cloth pads.
