Project Pomona Review & Sponsor Spotlight #ABE3

One of the first challenges any cloth diapering mama comes across is clothing.  It can be very difficult to find anything to fit your babies fluffy bum correctly….if it fits over the cloth diaper it is more than likely too big everywhere else and if you find the perfect waist and length it probably won’t stretch enough to get over the padded tush.  If you see many pictures of Tates you will notice that he wears ‘sweats’ a lot because they are stretchy and pretty much the only kind of pants we have for him however they leave a lot to be desired when it comes to being fashionable.  I think every mom (especially cloth diapering mamas) likes having their baby dress cute (cloth is the cutest!) so this is an ongoing struggle for fluff loving mamas….until now!

I am more than thrilled to share with you all my latest fashion find; that is you guessed it: cloth diaper friendly!  Project Pomona is a company started by a fellow cloth diapering mama named Meghan after running into the same problems I talked about she decided she was going to design her own pants. These fashionable pants are designed to accommodate not only the struggles we cloth diapering moms deal with but also the frustrations all moms encounter with our kids quickly outgrowing everything.

We received the Sprout Pant in Denim/Wood and were pleasantly surprised when they arrived with a coordinating frog embroidered (available in green or tan) on the right leg.  The large frog adds a fun friend for kids.  I couldn’t wait to get these on Tates!  I didn’t even wash them I simply had to get them on him to see how they fit.

The playful accent fabric matched the stitching on the pants and the snaps (more on that in a bit) making these pants an instant conversation piece that other moms are sure to ask you about.

The back of these cloth diaper friendly pants offers extra room and an elastic waist, the elastic is super stretchy and doesn’t pinch at all but hugs gently.

The front of these pants is unique to anything I have ever seen.  The front panel folds down and allows for easy on and off dressing for frequent diaper changes and are super adjustable with 4 different snap sizes on each of the belly panels.

The belly panels are actually more like flaps (where conventional denim pants have pockets) that tuck downward almost at a slant to allow the smallest setting on the pants to not have bunching at babies belly.
Tates is on the smallest setting of  the size three pants we were sent and the pants lay absolutely flat and there are no gaps, bunching or extra material sticking out anywhere.
Currently available in three sizes:
Inseam (inches)*
Front Rise Back Rise
Size One (3-9mo)
6″ 9.75″
Size Two(9-18mo)
6″ 10″
Size Three (18mo-2T)
6.5″ 10.5″
*First inseam is leg cuff rolled up; second is leg fully extended

These are just a few of the adorable accent fabrics!
Tates is very comfortable in these pants as you can see he is rolling all around the house!
The denim is made of 98% cotton making them super soft and stretchy, seriously you just have to have a pair in your hands to understand how fabulous they are!

Both sitting and standing with the leg cuff rolled up these pants fit fabulously, Tates is 23 1/2 months old and weighs almost 30 pounds.  I really think these might even fit him next winter because of the wide range sizing.

I absolutely ADORE these pants and want to get more!  I definitely want to have several more of the accent prints and corduroys (100% cotton) too!  What is your favorite pair of Sprout pants?

  9. I have 2 pair of size 1 Sprout Pants. My son has been wearing them since 3 months. He is now 6 months and is very tall and chunky. It is almost impossible to find anything that fits him correctly with his size and his fluff but the Pomona pants have fit like a glove for 3 months! I love them!
